In an attempt to inspire thousands and thousands of students and help them to build qualities like discipline and perseverance, Union Grants Commission (UGC), under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has pushed forward an idea to all the Vice Chancellors for inviting medal winners and much acclaimed sports personalities in various events and festivities.
The idea was suggested by the PM while addressing the felicitation ceremony of the medal winners of the 17th Asian Games.
Sports persons are loved by one and all and elite sports persons are looked upon as peers and role models and whom they try to emulate in their daily activities. Inviting them to varsity events would promote sports activities among students and inspire students to take part in them, says UGC. It further added that indulging in sporting activities not only help students to keep their body fit and healthy but also helps them to focus their mind and teach them the art of handling pressure.
