WBJEE is a state level common entrance test for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering and Medical Courses through a common entrance test in the State of West Bengal. It is easy to crack WBJEE as compared to JEE Main, JEE Advanced and UPSEE.
It is very important for engineering aspirants to have an idea about the patter and difficulty level of the paper before appearing for the examination. Students will easily know the difficulty level of the paper after going through some previous years’ papers.
In this article, we bring to you WBJEE Solved Question Paper 2015 which will help you in your preparation.
The paper format of the question paper is given below:
Category 1:
Category 2:
Category 3:
Marks awarded = 2 × (no of correct responses) / (total no of correct options)
Mathematics:
This subject consists of 75 questions. A maximum 100 marks will be awarded for this subject. Few sample questions from the Mathematics Question Paper are given below:
Question:
A fair coin is tossed a fixed number of times. If the probability of getting exactly 3 heads equals the probability of getting exactly 5 heads, then the probability of getting exactly one head is
(A) 1/64
(B) 1/32
(C) 1/16
(D) 1/8
Solution:
Hence, the correct option is (B).
Question:
Which of the following is/are always false?
(A) A quadratic equation with rational coefficients has zero or two irrational roots
(B) A quadratic equation with real coefficients has zero or two nonreal roots
(C) A quadratic equation with irrational coefficients has zero or two rational roots
(D) A quadratic equation with integer coefficients has zero or two irrational roots
Solution:
A quadratic equation with rational coefficient has zero, rational or irrational roots but the quadratic equation with irrational coefficient has only zero or irrational coefficient.
Hence, the correct option is (C).

Physics:
This subject consists of 40 questions. A maximum 50 marks will be awarded for this subject. Few sample questions from the Physics Question Paper are given below:
Question:
A 20 cm long capillary tube is dipped vertically in water and the liquid rises upto 10 cm. If the entire system is kept in a freely falling platform, the length of water column in the tube will be
(A) 5 cm
(B) 10 cm
(C) 15 cm
(D) 20 cm
Solution:
Under free fall condition, g_{eff} = 0
In gravity less condition the entire tube fills with water.
So, the length of water column in the tube is 20 cm.
Hence, the correct option is (D).
Question:
When light is refracted from a surface, which of its following physical parameters does not change?
(A) Velocity
(B) Amplitude
(C) Frequency
(D) Wavelength
Solution:
When light is refracted from a surface, its frequency does not change.
Hence, the correct option is (C).

Chemistry:
This subject also consists of 40 questions. A maximum 50 marks will be awarded for this subject. Few sample questions from the Chemistry Question Paper are given below:
Question:
The atomic number of cerium (Ce) is 58. The correct electronic configuration of Ce^{3+} ion is
(A) [Xe]4f^{1}
(B) [Kr]4f^{1}
(C) [Xe]4f^{13}
(D) [Kr]4d^{1}
Solution:
The atomic number of Xe is 54.
So, the electronic configuration of Ce is [Xe] 4f^{1} 5d^{1} 6s^{2}
The atomic configuration of Ce^{3+} ion is [Xe] 4f^{1}
Hence, the correct option is (A).
Question:
For the reaction A + 2B → C, the reaction rate is doubled if the concentration of A is doubled. The rate is increased by four times when concentrations of both A and B are increased by four times. The order of the reaction is
(A) 3
(B) 0
(C) 1
(D) 2
Solution:
Rate is doubled when concentration of ‘A’ is doubled.
Also, rate is quadrupled when concentration of ‘A’ is raised four times. This means that there is no effect on rate of reaction when we raise the concentration of B.
Order of reaction with respect to A is 1.
Order of reaction with respect to B is 0.
Total order of reaction is 1.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
