The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) results 2015 are expected to be declared today at the official website www.wbjeeb.nic.in by 3 pm. Last year, the WBJEE results were announced on June 5 and approximately one lakh students had appeared in the examinations.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations conducts the WBJEE for students wishing to take admission into undergraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/Architecture. The organisation was established in 1962 with an objective to conduct a common entrance exam to make the process of admission more convenient.
More than 1.5 lakh candidates appeared for the exam this year. The paper was divided into two sections- The first section consisted of multiple-choice questions which constituted of 80 percent of the marks while the second section consisted the really short-answer questions which made up for 20 percent of the total marks.
The WBJEE pattern was changed in 2013 wherein the syllabus was tweaked and two hours were allotted to Mathematics and one and half hour each to Physics and Chemistry. The change was majorly made to leave out the more descriptive topics and to give more importance to the analytical ones.
The WBJEE 2015 was conducted for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Medical, Dental, Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self Financed Institutes in West Bengal.
WBJEE for the academic session 2015-2016 which was initially scheduled to be held on 18 April and 19 April were later postponed to 5 & 6 May due to Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls. More than 1.5 lakh candidates have appeared for the exam.

WBJEEM is the common entrance examination for admission to various undergraduate level courses (BE/ B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Pharm and MBBS/ BDS) offered in different Universities and Colleges of West Bengal.
The syllabi for the upcoming WBJEEM 2015 exams was revised to:
i) Avoid any bias towards students any particular school/Board
ii) Leave out more descriptive topics and to give more importance to the analytical ones.
iii) Focus more on the depth of the syllabi rather than the extent of coverage.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed in the year 1962 for the purpose of holding Common Entrance Examinations for the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal.
The endeavour of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology.
According to the Board's website, admission to MBBS Course in Medical Colleges and BDS Course in Dental Colleges will be done through e-counselling after publication of Merit List of WBJEEM-2015. Seat allotment will be based on the rank position in the Merit List of the Joint Entrance Examination having regard to preferences for Medical or Dental Colleges.
The West Bengal joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed as West Bengal Board of Examinations for Admission to Engineering Degree Colleges in the year 1962, born out of a concept of holding a common admission test for the Engineering colleges of the State of West Bengal. The basic purpose was to select candidates for consideration for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.
