West Bengal Public Service Commission had notified for the West Bengal Civil Service (Exe.) Etc. Examination, 2019 in November 2018. This is the most reputed exam in the West Bengal. Besides the Group A, Group B,C and D services were also notified in the West Bengal Civil Services notification in November 2018.
The total number of vacancies were not notified in the West Bengal Civil Services notification. There are six services notifies under the Group A services, One service in Group B, Nine services of Group C and three services in Group D.
Qualifications
The qualification required to appear in this exam is a degree course from any recognised university or institution with the ability to read, write and speak in Bengali. The Nepali speaking persons are exempted from the Bengali reading, writing and speaking condition.
Age Criteria
The Age criteria to appear in this exam is 21 year to 36 years. The age cut off date is the 1 January of the exam year. This means that the candidate who are below 21 years and above 36 years on 1 January 2019 are not eligible to appear in the West Bengal Civil Services Exam 2019.
5 years of age relaxation is provided to the candidates belonging to the S.C and S.T candidates. Three years of age relaxation is provided to the Backward Class candidates.
Those candidates whose date of birth lies between the 1st January, 1998 & the 1st January, 1999 [i.e. whose age is between 20 & 21 years as on 01.01.2019] may apply for Group B only.
West Bengal Civil Services Exam Centres
The West Bengal Civil Services Exam will be conducted on 9 February 2019 at 20 centres in the West Bengal. The names of the districts are given below

Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The West Bengal Civil Services Examination is a combined exam for the Group A, B, C and D services so there will be a clear mix of General Knowledge, Aptitude and English. To recruit for four different services through a common preliminary paper is a tough task.
The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper, viz., a paper on “General Studies”. The paper will be of an objective type consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions. The paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2½ hours duration. The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty of a recognized University.

English Composition
Questions on English Composition will cover Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Vocabulary test, Phrasal Verbs, the same words bearing more than one meaning, use of appropriate and qualifying words etc.
General Science
Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of science, including matters of everyday observation and experience as may be expected of a well-educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
History
In History, emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic and political aspects.
Geography
Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical,Social and Economic Geography of the country, including the main features of Indian Agricultural and Natural Resources with special reference to West Bengal.
Indian Polity and Economy
Questions of Indian Polity and Economy will test the knowledge of the country’s Political System, Panchayatee Raj, Community Development and Planning in India.
Indian National Movement
Questions on the Indian National Movement will relate to the nature and character of the Nineteenth Century Resurgence, Growth of Nationalism and Attainment of Independence.
General Mental Ability
General Mental Ability will relate to Logical perception, understanding and natural conclusion.
