In addition the candidates will also have to face negative marking in Paper I. As per the rules mentioned in the question paper booklet, ONE FOURTH OF A MARK may be deducted for each incorrect answer wherein each question has five alternatives. Candidates are asked to use only BLUE OR BLACK BALL-POINT PEN for marking answers on the OMR answer sheet.
Another important catch mentioned in the exam booklet is about ‘leaving a question unattempted’. The exam conducting body has specifically mentioned that “Leaving a question UNATTEMPTED may result in a DEDUCTION OF 0.05 MARK. However, this deduction will not apply for a MAXIMUM OF 12 UNATTEMPTED QUESTIONS. The negative marks for UNATTEMPTED QUESTIONS shall be deducted proportionately across the three sections.” This new addition implies that this time leaving a fixed number of unattempted questions can also land you in deep water.
