- IIT Bombay ranks 118th and IIT Delhi ranks 150th
- IISc Bangalore comes in at number 211
- IIT Kharagpur is next at 222 and then IIT Madras at 227
- IIT Kanpur ranks 263rd and Delhi University ranks 328th
IIT Bombay topped Indian institutes last year. In the 2024 World University Rankings, IIT Bombay was ranked 149th, IIT Delhi 197th, IISc Bangalore 225th, and IIT Kharagpur 271st.

For the 13th year in a row, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US has retained its title as the world's number one university, holding the top spot among the global top 10 institutions. Imperial College London takes the second spot, closely followed by Oxford University in third place, while Harvard University secures fourth position. The top six is completed by Cambridge University in fifth place and Stanford University in sixth. Completing the top 10 rankings are ETH Zurich (7th), National University of Singapore (NUS) (8th), University College London (UCL) (9th), and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) (10th).
The 2025 QS World University Rankings are the largest yet, including over 1,500 universities from 105 global systems. The US has the most institutions (197), followed by the UK (90) and mainland China (71).
