The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) came into effect from 1st August 2010 when it became a binding law on all the nations around the world that have signed the Convention. The Convention on Cluster Munitions (bombs) bans the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of cluster bombs and calls for destruction of stockpiles within eight years.
South Korea accused North Korea of attacking a South Korean warship Chionan on 26 March2010 killing on board 46 sailors. South Korean accusation is based on an international report, which proved that North Korea indeed had attacked South Korean warship.
On 31 May 2010, Israeli commandos attacked convoy of ships headed to Gaza carrying relief materials. The attack took place in international waters 65 kilometres from the Gaza coast. It resulted into the death of 19 passengers on ships.
On 13 June 2010, Iran finalised ‘Peace Pipeline’ deal with Pakistan. Under ‘Peace Pipeline’ deal, Iran is likely to start exporting natural gas to Pakistan by 2015 and will continue to do so, on an average of one million cubic meters of natural gas daily to Pakistan for 25 years.
On 03 June 2010, India and USA held first annual dialogue on India-US Strategic Partnership during Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna’s visit to USA. The dialogue was co-chaired by S.M. Krishna and US secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
