12th ASEAN-India Summit was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 12 November 2014. The summit was held on the sidelines of 25th ASEAN Summit.
The summit was attended by the President of Myanmar, Thein Sein, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and by all Heads of State/ Government of ASEAN Member States.
During the summit, ASEAN countries and India reiterated their commitment to reach the trade target of 100 billion US Dollar by 2015. The total trade between ASEAN and India reached 67.9 billion US dollar in 2013.
The leaders appreciated the signing of two milestone agreements; the Agreement on Trade in Services and the Agreement on Investment of the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between ASEAN and India.
Along with the other commitments, the ASEAN leaders also underscored the importance of India's cooperation in implementing the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre).
The Next ASEAN-India Summit will be held in Cambodia in 2015.
India became a sectoral dialogue partner of ASEAN in 1992, which was upgraded to full dialogue partnership in 1996. Since 2002, India had annual Summits with ASEAN. To mark the 20th anniversary of India-ASEAN dialogue-level partnership and the 10th anniversary of India-ASEAN Summit-level partnership with ASEAN, India would host the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit on the theme ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace and Shared Prosperity.
