Amarnath Yatra 2019: More than 11K pilgrims visited shrine so far

Amarnath Yatra 2019 has completed its three days with thousands of pilgrims visited Amarnath cave shrine till now.

Amarnath Yatra 2019: On third day of Amarnath Yatra more than 4600 pilgrims left for cave shrine. However, 11,456 pilgrims completed darshan by second day. Another batch of 4,694 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in two convoys for the Kashmir Valley. Of these, 2,052 are headed for the Baltal base camp and 2,642 to Pahalgam.

Annual Amarnath Yatra flagged off on July 1, 2019 from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes in Jammu and Kashmir. The first batch of about 1200 pilgrims was flagged off from Nunwan Pahalgam base camp by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jehangir. And a batch of 1051 devotees was flagged off from Baltal camp. To ensure a safe Yatra security arrangements have also done.

Chairman of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) and governor of Jammu and Kashmir said that he will attend traditional "Pratham Pooja" at the cave shrine. The 46-day yatra will conclude on August 15 coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

Safety and Security arrangements

•    To ensure the smooth passage of the yatra convoys on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, extra security measures have been put in place with J&K police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the army providing security cover.
•    Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags have been affixed in all vehicles.
•    For ensuring effective security arrangements along the difficult tracks, only those Yatris who are in possession of a Yatra Permit will be allowed to proceed beyond the Base Camps and Access Control Gates at both base camps.
•    Shri Amarnath Shrine Shrine Board has procured Group Accidental Insurance Policy with a cover of 3 lakh rupees for three lakh registered Yatris and also for various categories of service providers including Ponywallas.

First Batch of Yatra

•    From Baltal camp 793 male, 203 female, 10 children and 44 Sadhus were included in a batch.
•    In Pahalgam camp batch 1046 male, 130 female and 7 children were included.
•    Jammu and Kashmir government claims that the arrangements are better than the previous years and the state machinery is working round the clock to ensure improved facilities
•    Children below 13 years, elderly persons above 75 years and pregnant lady with 6 weeks pregnancy shall not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
•    Over 2 lakh 85 thousand Yatris had darshan of Shivlingam last year.

For tour cancellation

•    30% of total amount will be charged if cancelled 21 days before commencement of tour.
•    If cancelled between 21 to 15 days before commencement of tour 55% of total amount will be charged.
•    80% amount will be charged if tour cancelled 14 to 8 days before commencement of tour.
•    100% amount will be charged if tour cancelled only 7 days before commencement of tour.

Age group restrictions

Passengers below 13 yrs of age and above 75 yrs of age are not advised to take Amarnath Yatra. A Compulsory Health Check up duly issued by Authorized Doctors/ Institutes at the time of boarding the helicopter at Neelgrath/Pahalgam. No passenger shall be allowed to board the helicopter without submitting the Compulsory Medical Certificate (CHC).
