Apple achieved 50 billion apps download milestone; left behind Google

Total number of downloaded applications from the Apple’s iPhone App Store passed the 50 billion milestone on 15 May 2013. The first app was downloaded from the Apple’s iPhone App Store on 11 July 2008. The 50 billionth downloaded apps from Apple’s iPhone App Store alone, signifies the growth of this sector, over last five years.

The person who downloaded this 50 billionth app received a gift card worth 10000 US dollar from Cupertino Tech Company. This is done by Apple every time when one of its digital stores achieves a milestone.

In April 2013, Apple announced that its developers received 9 billion US dollar during that time, which indicated towards gigantic new economy. Apple receives 30 percent of the revenue from app customers, which meant that the company made around 3.86 billion US dollar from this app store alone.

An increase in the demand of smartphones has led to creation of more and more apps which serve to all kinds of audience. Apps have gained tremendous popularity on the smartphones.
