Harishchandrachi Factory, India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category fell out of the race on 21 Jan 2010. The Marathi movie directed by veteran theatre personality Paresh Mokashi is based on Dadasaheb Phalke’s struggle in making India’s first full-length feature film Raja Harishchandra.

A 19-minute fictional Hindi film Kavi, was nominated in the Short Film category (Live Action) for the 2010 Oscars. The film directed by American filmmaker Gregg Helvey and co-produced by Harish Amin was shot in the brick kilns of Panchgani, Maharashtra.
