Asia's first hybrid flying car to be used for medical emergencies: Civil Aviation Minister 

Asia's first hybrid flying car will be able to travel up to a range of 100km without the need of refueling and reach a maximum height of 3000ft.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reviewed the concept model of Asia’s First Hybrid flying car on September 20, 2021. The Minister said that the flying cars will be used for transporting people and cargo and for medical emergencies as well. 

The hybrid flying car has been designed by a young team of Vinata Aeromobility, Scindia tweeted.

1. It will be a fully autonomous hybrid-electric VTOL vehicle capable of accommodating two passengers.

2. It is being built by Chennai-based Vinata Aeromobility. 

3. It is expected to be launched on October 5, 2021 at the world's largest Helitech Exhibition - Excel, London.

4. The hybrid flying car will have digital instrument panels with artificial intelligence to make the flying experience more hassle-free.

5. The flying car will use biofuel for powering its motors.

6. The car will be capable of taking off with a maximum weight of 1,300 kg and can fly for around 60 minutes with a top speed of 120km/h.

7. The car will be able to travel up to a range of 100km without the need of refueling and reach a maximum height of 3000ft. 

8. It will be powered by a co-axial quad-rotor system, which draws energy from eight BLDC motors that come with eight fixed pitch propellers.

9. In case of the rotor of the flying car fails, the other worker motors and propellers will be able to safely land the car. 

10. It would be able to run on roads as well as fly in the sky. 

Significance

The hybrid flying cars aim to provide a viable solution for hassle-free commuting with the city roads getting increasingly congested. The flying cars will offer a new air route that will result in more convenience for the transportation sector. It will help reduce travel time and congestion on the roads. It would open a new pathway for urban transportation.

South Korean automaker Hyundai has also been working around a concept where flying cars would be used for commuting in cities.
