The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on 18 Jan 2010 declared that Avinav Bindra would not be selected for the 2010 Commonwealth shooting championship. He was however allowed to compete in one of the season's world cups scheduled to be held at Fort Benning and Belgrade. Abhinav Bindra is an Indian shooter and the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Beijing Olympic 2008. NRAI took this decision after discussion with the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Suresh Kalmadi.
