The Germany’s Franz-Peter Terbartz-van Elst also known as bling bishop resigned on 26 March 2014 for the allegations for his luxurious lifestyle. The resignation formally was accepted by the Pope Francis.
He lived a life of high extravagances which included renovation of his residence and church building. The renovation was initially valued at 5.5 million euros but the cost went to 31 million euros (43 million dollars). This amount for renovation was used from the revenue collected from religious tax in Germany.
In 2013, Franz-Peter Terbartz-van Elst was indefinitely relieved of his clerical duties by Francis in Limburg.
