Cartosat-3 successfully launched, ISRO’s another achievement in space
Cartosat-3 is a third-generation highly responsive and advanced satellite with high-resolution photo-taking capability.
Cartosat-3 launch: ISRO has successfully launched Cartosat-3 along with 13 Nanosatellites of the US on November 27. Cartosat-3 is India’s Earth observation satellite. The space agency had planned to launch Cartosat-3 on at 9.28 am today.
It is the ninth satellite of the Cartosat series which was launched from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota. This is the 49th flight of PSLV-C47, which is carrying Cartosat-3 and 13 small US commercial satellites.
ISRO Chief's Sivan expressed delight over the successful launch of Cartosat-3. He said that I am happy that PSLV-C47 successfully orbited along with 13 other satellites. He further stated that Cartosat-3 is the highest resolution civilian satellite.

• America's private space company Digital Globe's GeoIP-1 satellite can take pictures up to a height of 16.14 inches.
• Cartosat-3 can take clear pictures up to a height of 0.25 meters i.e. 9.84 inches of the ground from space.
• This satellite will also help in surveillance India's borders with space. It will also help in monitoring natural disasters.
• This was the 74th launch vehicle mission from Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota. Cartosat-3 will have a lifespan of five years.
• Cartoset-3 will be placed in orbit with an inclination of 97.5 degrees 509 kilometres away in the space.
Cartosat-1, the first satellite of the Cartosat series, was launched on 05 May 2005. Cartosat-2 was launched on 10 January 2007. This is the first launch of ISRO after Chandrayaan-2 that lost contact with Vikram Lander on 07 September 2019.
