1.(b) Babita Phogat 
Commonwealth Games medalist Babita Phogat and Kabaddi player Kavita Devi have been appointed as deputy directors in the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Haryana. The announcement was through two separate orders issued on July 29 by the principal secretary of the Haryana Government's Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

2.(a) Munshi Premchand 
The Films Division is planning to mark the 140th birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand and the 40th death anniversary of Mohammed Rafi with a documentary tribute. The documentaries, ‘Premchand’ and ‘Rafi - We Remember You’ will be streamed on Films Division Website and YouTube channel for free.

3.(b) Pakistan 
A 57-year-old American citizen Tahir Naseem, accused of blasphemy, was shot at multiple times at close range inside Peshawar's Judicial Complex on July 29, 2020 as he waited to be shifted to the prison. He died on the spot. The attacker was arrested then and there and the pistol used for firing was seized.

Former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s preventive detention was extended for another three months on July 31, 2020 under Public Safety Act. Her detention order was scheduled to expire on August 5.

The Environment Ministers of the five BRICS countries participated in the 6th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting on July 30, 2020. The video conference was held under the Presidency of Russia.

The Bangladesh Government has released its first list of verified news portals. The nation’s Information Minister said that the registration of online news portals will be a continuous and ongoing process.

Maharashtra has approved an ADB-funded Rs 1,000 crore project for boosting fruit and vegetable production in the state. The Maharashtra Agribusiness Network (MagNet) project, which has been approved, aims to help farmers across all districts in the state for the next six years.
