1. (a) Sirisha Bandla

Indian-origin Sirisha Bandla is set to become the second Indian-born woman to fly into space after Kalpana Chawla. The Indian-American astronaut will be one of the six crew members aboard Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic flight ‘VSS Unity’, which is scheduled to blast off to space on July 11, 2021 from New Mexico.

The third wave of COVID-19 is likely to hit India in August 2021 and may peak in September, as per the new SBI Research report named ‘Covid-19: The race to finishing line' that released on July 5, 2021. 

3. (c) July 11th

Billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic flight is all set to travel to the edge of space on 11 July. Besides Bandla and Branson, the other members of the "Unity 22" mission include pilots Dave MacKay and Michael Masucci, Virgin Galactic's chief astronaut instructor Beth Moses and lead operations engineer Colin Bennett.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General MM Naravane has embarked on a four-day visit to the United Kingdom and Italy from July 5 to July 8, 2021. The Army Chief will be inaugurating the Indian Army Memorial in the famous town of Cassino in Italy and will also be briefed at the Italian Army’s Counter IED Centre of Excellence at Cecchingola, Rome.

Panacea Biotec on July 4, 2021, received its licence from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to manufacture Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine at its facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The New Delhi-based company had launched the production of the Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in India in collaboration with the Russian Direct Investment (RDIF) on May 24, 2021.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on July 4, 2021, banned the sale, possession, storage, transport, and use of drones or any other unmanned aerial vehicles in the capital Srinagar.

Cuba on July 4, 2021, evacuated 1,80,000 people amid fears that Tropical Storm Elsa can cause heavy flooding battering several other Caribbean Islands and killing at least people.

8. (a) Mithali Raj

India ODI skipper Mithali Raj on July 3, 2021 became the leading runs scorer across all formats in international women's cricket. She achieved the feat during the ongoing third and final ODI against England. The Indian skipper beat former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards' record to reach the milestone. Edwards had scored 10,273 runs across all three formats.
