Election Commission (EC) confirmed Amir Khan as its national icon for the Lok Sabha elections 2014 on 1 April 2014. He IS the fifth national icon selected by the EC. The EC recorded a video and audio campaign which shows Amir Khan urging people to vote ethically.
EC hopes all the new channels and radio networks will air the campaigns for creating voter awareness. EC also told state chief electoral officers to ensure that these campaigns are aired by the regional networks.
The video reminds people how every single vote can make difference AND not to miss their chance at exercising their franchise. The tagline of the video is Rukey nahin chookey nahin.. Vote zaroor daalein.
Amir Khan is the fifth National icon selected by EC to campaign for creating awareness among voters about elections. The other four national icons were President A P J Abdul Kalam, cricketer M S Dhoni, badminton star Saina Nehwal and boxer Mary Kom.
