First-Ever Chinese Film Festival Inaugurated in New Delhi
The Government of India and China joined hands for organising the Chinese film festival in India from 18 June 2013 to 23 June 2013 at New Delhi.
The Government of India and Government of China joined hands for organising the first ever Chinese film festival in India from 18 June 2013 to 23 June 2013 at Siri fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The Chinese Film Festival is jointly organised by Indo China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC), State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and People's Republic of China.
The focus in the New Delhi Chinese film festival will be on the range of Chinese movies that will cover action to drama and historical films as well. Some of the popular Chinese films to be showcased in the New Delhi Chinese Film Festival will include Cableway Doctor, Back to 1942, Lost in Thailand and many more.
A 20-member delegation from China will be a part of this festival. Action superstar Jackie Chan attended inaugural day of the Chinese film festival on 18 June 2013. The opening film of the festival was Jackie Chan’s latest film, Chinese Zodiac.
It is also important to note that India invited China to be principal guest country at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which will be held in Goa in 2014. China is requested in the meanwhile to send classical films for this festival.
In order to strengthen ties between India and China, the two countries also decided on 18 June 2013 to set up a joint working group for films and broadcasting sector.
