The state of Kerala is currently on high alert due to the outbreak of a deadly infection called the Nipah virus. The infection was detected after tests conducted on the blood and body fluid samples of the first two people who died of viral fever confirmed the presence of the virus. The epicenter of the infection is believed to be a family in Kozhikode district of Kerala, which lost two brothers and one woman to the infection. Dead bats found in a well in the family’s home are believed to have caused the infection.
