Sikkim’s first-ever airport was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24, 2018 at Pakyong. The development is a historic occasion for the entire northeast region of India. The airport was constructed by the Airports Authority of India. Until now, Sikkim was the only state in India remaining without a functional airport.
