Freedom fighter Perin Romesh Chandra died on 8 January 2015 following a prolonged illness. She was 96.

• Chandra was born as Perin Bharucha in Chaman, Pakistan on 2nd October 1918.
• Apart from being a veteran Communist, she served in the peace movement of international communism and was part of its Indian leadership.
• Perin was a leader and stalwart of the All India Peace & Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO).
• The greater part of her life was spent in the peace and solidarity movements including the movement against the US occupation of Vietnam, the struggle to free South Africa from apartheid, caste discrimination and for people-to-people contacts between Indians and Pakistanis.
