Haryana Government to develop Gurgaon as Smart City
Haryana government will arrange 500 crore rupees of its own for Gurgaon to make it a smart city.
Haryana government on 22 September 2015 declared that it will develop Gurgaon as a smart city with its own resources. However, it will follow Union Government’s guidelines on Smart Cities Mission and technical assistance.
It was declared that the state will arrange 500 crore rupees of its own for Gurgaon for the first phase which will be spent over a time span of 5 years.
Notably, Gurgaon had not made to centre’s list of 98 cities that will be developed as smart cities under the Smart Cities Mission. Haryana itself had nominated its two cities, Karnal and Faridabad, on the basis of the parameters laid down for selection under the mission.
