Hockey Olympian Jaswant Singh Rajput who was part of Indian hockey team that won gold medal in 1948 London and 1952 Helsinki Olympics died on 28 January 2015. He was 88.

Hockey Olympian Jaswant Singh Rajput died on 28 January 2015 following a prolonged illness. He was 88.

He was part of Indian hockey team that won gold medal in 1948 London and 1952 Helsinki Olympics.


He played at centre-half and left-half position and formed a lethal foursome with Leslie Claudius, Keshav Dutt and Meldric Daluz.

Born in Delhi, he shifted to Kolkata to pursue his career in hockey and played for Bhowanipore Club. Later in 1952, he moved to Mohun Bagan and helped them to win the Beighton Cup.
