Home Minister Amit Shah launches CAPF’s nationwide tree plantation drive
The tree plantation drive is a CAPF’s initiative towards Green India. It is a massive campaign of planting more than 1.37 crore saplings of trees across the country.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 12 launched the Central Armed Police Force’s (CAPFs) nationwide tree plantation drive by planting a sapling of the peepal tree at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus in Gurugram.
Under the drive, saplings have been planted by the jawans of the Central Armed Police Forces in Chhattisgarh. The personnel of CRPF, BSF, CISF, and ITBP who have been deployed in Chhattisgarh for anti-Naxals operations, has been planting saplings in their respective campuses.
All the CAPF’s will undertake a drive in their respective organisations in order to achieve the collective target of planting more than 1.35 crore saplings by July 2020. As per the Inspector General of BSF, paramilitary are also playing their role in preserving and promoting the environment.

Home Minister Amit Shah during the launch of the event applauded CAPFs and showed his gratitude to the brave jawans who have not only been providing security to the nation but have also undertaken the massive campaign of planting more than 1.37 crore saplings of trees across the country.
He added that the CAPF personnel are not only providing security at various locations such as railway stations and airports and fighting terrorism but they are also contributing to the nation’s battle against COVID-19 pandemic.
The Home Minister also highlighted that the tree plantation campaign is being undertaken at a time when the world is facing pandemic.
While talking about India’s successful fight in managing the pandemic in the country, the minister underlined how the health services of most developed countries have been collapsing in the current time period.
About the tree plantation drive:
The tree plantation drive is a CAPF’s initiative towards Green India. It underlines the resolve of the paramilitary forces to protect the environment apart from ensuring internal and external security.
These saplings have been planted by CAPFs personnel by contributing voluntary labour. More than 20 lakh saplings have been planted by all CAPFs across the different regions of the country, till June 30, 2020. The CAPF’s will also undertake similar campaigns in the years to come.
