IBM, the American technology corporation in the month of January2013 signed a MoU with University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun in order to create a unique opportunity for students and faculty to learn new skill sets on IBM soft ware products
As per the MoU the partnership will focus on training UPES faculty and students on cutting edge technologies and aim to bridge the academia-industry gap by training the faculty and students on different software tools and technologies.
Students will be benefitted with the understanding of latest developments in the field of software engineering and they can also apply their learning experience to solve real-world problems. The certifications and a hands-on experience in problem solving will make them more employable.
The idea behind the partnership is to take the industry relevant technology to the doorsteps of potential technocrats to bridge the gap in technical expertise of prospective IT workforce.
The whole idea is being executed through IBM Academic Initiative (AI) which an innovative global program is created to equip educational institutions with the most current IT tools in the market, to better prepare students for the professional world.
It had been seen over the years that the partnership with colleges and universities has helped in building a pipeline of capable and competitive IT workforce.
IBM facilitates adoption of open standards technologies to promote high quality education in preparing the students for a more competitive information technology (IT) workforce.
Already, various AI programs running across the nation are helping IBM in developing strategic relationships with universities and colleges to assist them develop consistent, high quality curricula for leading and emerging technologies.
