India became the fourth largest steel maker of the World

India became the world’s fourth largest steel producer by delivering 62.41 Million Tonnes (MT) output from January 2014 to September 2014. The findings were published on 21 October 2014 in the World Steel Association (WSA) data.

India has been the world’s fourth largest steel maker since 2010. As per the World Steel Association (WSA) data, the steel production of India grew by 1.8 percent during the January-September period of 2014. India produced 61.27 MT of steel in the same period in 2013.



India was preceded by China, Japan and the United States. China logged 2.3 percent growth by producing 618 MT steel during the January-September period of 2014. Japan remained at the second position with 83.1 MT production  and United States stood at the third spot with 66.33 MT production.
