Indian cricket team lost number one spot to Sri Lanka in ICC T20 rankings

Indian cricket team on 8 April 2014 lost their number one status in the latest ICC Twenty20 rankings released after the T20 world cup 2014 in Bangladesh. It has been replaced by Sri Lanka who won the final match of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 played in Mirpur, Dhaka after defeating Indian team to emerge as the World T-20 new Champions. To emerge as the top team in the T20 cricket tournament list, Sri Lanka gained three ratings points to finish on 133, which is three ahead of India.

On the other hand, in the player rankings list Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin attained their career-high positions. Kohli, the highest run scorer of the tournament (with 319 runs at an average of 106.33 and a strike-rate of 129.14) rose to second spot.

In the list of bowlers’ rankings, Ashwin rose to the third spot and he shares the position with Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal. To achieve this ranking Ashwin finished the tournament with 11 wickets at an average of 11.27 and economy rate of 5.35 runs per over. He emerged as the fourth highest wicket taker in the tournament.

The other only Indian batsman in the list of top 10 is Suresh Raina at 10th position. The top ranked player in batting list is Australian batsman Aaron Finch.
