Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri was ranked 67 in World Golf Ranking which was released on 28 April 2014. Lahiri jumped 35 places from his last standing of 102.
The change in rankings came after Lahiri’s victory at the Indonesian Masters on 27 April 2014. This was the fourth international title in a row for Lahiri who hails from Bangalore. The win also helped him reach the No. 1 position in Asia.
Currently, Lahiri is the second-highest Asian player in the world after Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand, who is ranked 49.
Also, Lahiri is only the second Indian after Jeev Milkha Singh to be ranked inside the top 70. Jeev had achieved his career-best ranking of 29 back in 2009.
Among the other Indians who had previously broken into the top 100, Jyoti Randhawa went as high as 70, while Gaganjeet Bhullar reached a career-high of 85 last year.
Interestingly, Lahiri became the 10th Indian to win an international title outside India when he clinched the Indonesian Masters with a 20-foot eagle on the final hole.
