Indian-origin Gopal Rao on 27 March 2014 won UK Twitter Prize
Indian-origin Gopal Rao on 27 March 2014 won UK Twitter Prize. The prize was to meet the British Foreign Secretary William Hague and to discuss the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI).
PSVI was launched on 29 May 2012 by William Hague. PSVI aimed to strengthen and support international efforts to respond to sexual violence in conflict which included to enhance the capacity of countries, institutions, and communities to support survivors and end impunity for perpetrators.
Gopal Rao, MBA student at Cambridge University won the accolades from British Foreign Secretary William Hague after winning a Twitter competition which asked a question regarding UK’s foreign policy.
The question asked was What do you think is the biggest contribution UK foreign policy can make to the world?
Gopal Rao answered that UK foreign policy should focus on emancipation of girlsandwomen through enterprise, supported by vibrant #socent culture within UK. #meetFS.
