Feb 25, 2014 14:48 IST

Indira Paryavaran BhawaManmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India on 25 February 2014 inaugurated Indira Paryavaran Bhawan on Jorbagh Road, New Delhi. This Bhawan will house the Ministry of Environment and Forest and has a provision to accommodate its 600 officials.

The Bhawan is India’s first on site Net Zero Building built by the adoption of Solar Passive design and energy efficient building material. This has been designed as the highest-green rated building i.e., GRIHA 5-Star and LEED India Platinum. The requirements of GRIHA 5-Star and LEEDS Platinum ratings have been achieved by adopting various measures some of which are as follows
• Effective Ventilation has been achieved by orientating the building in an East-West direction, separating different blocks with connecting corridors and having a large central court yard.
• The design is such that 75% of natural daylight is utilised to reduce energy consumption.
• The entire building has an access friendly design for differently-abled persons.
• With an Installed capacity of 930 KW peak power, the building has the largest roof top Solar system among Multi storied buildings in India.
• Total energy savings of about 40% has been achieved by adoption of energy Efficient Chilled Beam system of Air Conditioning. This is an innovative air conditioning system, where air conditioning is done by convection currents rather than air flow through diffusers and chilled water is circulated right up to the diffuser points unlike the conventional systems.
• Green materials have been used like Fly ash bricks, regional building materials, materials with high recycled content, high reflectance terrace tiles and rock wool Insulation of outer walls.
• Rapidly renewable Bamboo Jute Composite material has been used for door frames & shutters.
• UPVC windows with hermetically sealed double glass, Calcium Silicate ceiling tiles having high recycled content and grass paver blocks in pavements and roads.
• Reduction in water consumption has been achieved by use of Low discharge water fixtures, recycling of waste water through Sewage Treatment Plant, use of plants with Low water demand in landscaping, use of Geothermal cooling for HVAC system, rain water harvesting and use of curing compounds during construction.

This project has been developed at an expense of about 209 crore rupees. The Indira Paryavaran Bhavan building has already received the following awards:
• February 2013: The Project received an award from Adarsh/GRIHA of MNRE for exemplary demonstration of Integration of Renewable Energy Technologies
• January 2014: The Project was accorded 5-Star Green Building Certification by GRIHA under MNRE

I think after the inaugurated we have to use the peak power, the building has the largest roof top Solar system among Multi storied buildings in India. Nither that happen in past and in future if UPA govt. is not in the center.

I think After the inaugurated Indira Paryavaran Bhawan on Jorbagh Road, New Delhi By the our PM. then inspire people towards adoption of green technology.

Another good work done by the Our PM Manmohan Singh, They always take care of the our environment and their natural resources. And also This design is such that 75% of natural daylight is utilized to reduce energy consumption.Which is good for us.

I think this is the another Good work has done by the Congress party and Our PM prime minister Manmohan singh to inaugurated Indira Paryavaran Bhawan on Jorbagh Road, New Delhi. Which is good for the us.

hena handa,

We can say UPA government is environment friendly..India has an enormously rich biodiversity that is under threat on account of various reasons. To commit itself to strengthening people’s movements whose objective will be to protect and preserve our bio-resources and ensure their sustainable use....they had adopted a new National Environment Policy to mainstream environmental concerns in development activities and policies across relevant sectors.

vatsal dogra,

Protecting environment is very important for us.. soo far not even a single party took a step ahead for such development except congress..one of them is National Action Plan for Climate Change..

Everyone just want land for the development for which they are keep cutting trees...for this the UPA Government has approved “Green India”, a programme for massively afforesting 60 lakh hectares of degraded forest land, beginning with work on 30 lakh hectares.. does any other government ever think of it....?

I THINK EVERY BUILDING OF INDIA SHOULD BE BUILT LIKE THIS. the use of technology with the less use of resources is the main factor which is dazzling my mind. these enhancement in the system of India will build India strong and fugitive for the future growth.....

it is cultivated for the people who are in ministry of environment and forest. such cultivations will make India proud. i think people should look over it as they all criticize and say Congress never do any thing for the nation...

being a former PM of Nation this project is the most likely project which is for the promotion of saving the resources. resources are the life of nature and when they will end it will be hard for every one to survive so a correct and an amazing step been taken by him....

a very good step taken by Manmohan singh ji. he is the only educated person who is after the nation development other parties are just liers and make people fool by telling them fake proposals. Congress has always been in the favour of the people rather its have some weaknesses but the main thing which comes in front is the development they do for the Nation and the economy...

such development only makes Nation to categorise as developed nation. the participation with other countries to develop the nation mutual understanding between are the steps which MMS takes and such steps are the promotional and motivational steps for the Nation and for the people of India.....

India needs Congress as it is only this party which works for the development and the growth of the nation and such development and the growth can only be obtained by bringing up new technology and the enhancement tools. a good use and worth development...

this bhawan is built to promote green energy. the first ever development in India been done by our PM which promote and aware people about the green energy use... through this the environment and the other substitutes could be saved which are further in a time of getting extent...

the technology been used in the bhawan is the best thing ever happened use of such technology will promote to build more relating to it. through this only new inventions and new way of living can be promoted.. such things are for the better future and to develop better future in technology... good work by Manmohan ji....

our PM is always for the growth and the well being of the Nation and thus have now developed this bhawan which will look forward for the green revolution..the green revolution is necessary as day by day the afforestation and the use of power in increasing so as to reduce it and to promote people for it is the best way of awareness..
