Oct 22, 2014 15:10 IST

International Stammering Awareness Day (ISAD) was observed on 22 October 2014. The day was observed to raise public awareness about the people who have the speech disorder of stuttering, which is also known as stammering.

During the ISAD, Stammering associations like British Stammering Association (BSA), individuals and groups around the world organised events to raise awareness of stuttering.

The British Stammering Association (BSA) conducted ISAD Online conference titled we speak with one voice in which people posted comments and questions about stuttering or stammering. This ISAD online conference is conducted annually between 1 October and 22 October. It also had Ask an Expert section about stuttering or stammering.

First International Stammering Awareness Day was observed in 1998. It is joint project between International Stuttering Association (ISA), International Fluency Association (IFA) and European League of Stuttering Associations (ELSA).
