Jet Airways Cargo banned shipment of shark fins and committed to protect marine ecosystem. This was revealed by a press release from Human Society International (HSI), India on 6 November 2014.
The decision to implement the ban was taken after HSI appealed to do so amidst the rising concern related to shark fin globally.
This environmentally-responsible decision of Jet Airways enabled it to join the group of major international carriers who are committed to protect the declining shark population and marine ecosystems. These are:
• Philippines Airlines
• Korean Airlines
• Asiana Airlines
• Air New Zealand
