K K Paul sworn in as sixth Governor of Uttarakhand

Krishan Kant Paul on 8 January 2015 was sworn in as the sixth Governor of Uttarakhand. Chief Justice of Uttarakhand Justice V K Bisht administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at the Raj Bhavan.

He succeeded Governor Aziz Qureshi who was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram on 30 December 2014.

Prior to this, he was the Governor of Meghalaya and held additional charge Governor of Manipur and Mizoram.

Paul joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1970 of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories) cadre.

He was Delhi Police commissioner from February 2004 to July 2007, thus becoming the longest serving commissioner of Delhi Police.

After retirement, he became a member of Union Public Service Commission in July 2007.
