Kotha Prabhakar Reddy of Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) Party won the by-election for Medak Parliament constituency in Telangana on 16 September 2014. The election for the constituency was held on 13 September 2014.
Prabhakar Reddy got 571810 votes while her nearest rival Suneetha Lakshma Reddy of Indian National Congress got 210524 votes giving a majority of 361286 votes.
The Medak Parliamentary constituency seat was left vacant after TRS Chief K Chandra Shekar Rao (KCR) resigned to become the Chief Minister of the State.
In the simultaneous elections held for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha of Telangana in May 2014, KCR contested from both Gajwel Assembly seat and Medak Parliament constituency. He won both the seats with majority. However, he resigned from Medak constituency and opted for Gajwel Assembly seat to become the Chief Minister of the State.
