Krishak Express and Lucknow-Barauni express collided near Gorakhpur station
Lucknow – Barauni express and Maduadih-Lucknow Krishak Express collided near Gorakhpur station at Nandnagar railway crossing.
Gorakhpur Station under North Eastern Railway zone: Lucknow–Barauni express and Krishak Express collided
Barauni bound Lucknow – Barauni express on 30 September 2014 collided with the coaches of Lucknow bound Maduadih-Lucknow Krishak Express near Gorakhpur station at Nandnagar railway crossing. The collision led to derailment of four coaches of Krishak express in which at least 12 passengers have been killed and 44 others were injured.
After accident, the civil and railway officers reached the spot to monitor the relief and rescue operations and admitted the injured passengers in nearby hospitals. The drivers of Krishak express have been suspended for overshooting the signal and an inquiry has been ordered by the railway under Commissioner Rail Safety PK Bajpai to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Apart from this, the railways had opened the helpline numbers at several places including Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Deoria and Barauni (Bihar).
