The voting for the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 began on May 19, 2019 in 59 constituencies across 7 States and a Union Territory.

The polling is being held for 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 seats in Punjab, 9 in West Bengal, 8 in Bihar, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, all 4 seats in Himachal Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand and one seat in Chandigarh (UT).

The seventh phase will be crucial for PM Narendra Modi who is seeking re-election from Varanasi. PM Modi stands against Congress's Ajay Rai and Shalini Yadav, candidtate of Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party grand alliance. The Prime Minister had won in Varanasi by over 3.5 lakh votes in 2014.

Note: Apart from these constituencies, repolling is being done at a booth in the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency of Delhi as during its actual polling day on May 12, the presiding officer had forgotten to the test votes during a mock poll before the voting.

Key Candidates

The final phase will be decisive for prominent candidates like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Manoj Sinha, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri.

It will decide the fate of Mahendra Nath Pandey, Kirron Kher, Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan, Sukhbir Badal, Meira Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha and Shibu Soren.

Assembly elections in 4 States


The polling for assembly elections is also underway for 4 Assembly seats each in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal; 2 Assembly seats in Karnataka and 1 Assembly seat in Goa.

In Tamil Nadu, by-poll is being held in Sulur, Ottapidaram, Thirupparankundram and Aravakurichi. In West Bengal, voting is underway in Darjeeling, Islampur, Habibpur and Bhatpara. In Karnataka, by-polls are being held in Chincholi and Kundgol and in Goa, polling is underway in Panaji.
