Michael Christian, one of the Australian radio presenters working at 2Day-FM, who hoaxed a call to the Cambridge’s hospital about Kate Middleton, was awarded with the title of Top Jock as well as a trip to Los Angeles by the employer, radio network Southern Cross Austereo. MP Keith Vaz criticised the award.
Michael Christian, 31, is one of the two RJs who made a prank call to the hospital to know about the details of pregnant Kate Middleton and eventually attracted controversy because of suicide of the nurse. The two RJs in December 2012 called Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone claiming to be Queen and Prince Charles. The RJs asked about the morning sickness of the Duchess of Cambridge. The nurse Jacintha Saldanha, 46, passed the call to another nurse. A few days later, she committed suicide that fetched global controversy.
