NASA suspended ties with Russia except on International Space Station
NASA has announced suspension of majority of its ongoing engagement and ties with Russia except for the cooperation aboard on ISS.
US Space agency, NASA on 2 April 2014 announced that it had suspended majority of its ongoing engagement and ties with Russia, except the cooperation aboard the International Space Station. The suspension of the ties has happened due to the crisis in Ukraine that has been caused due to the violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In its statement NASA claimed that NASA and Roscosmon would continue to work together to maintain safe and continuous operation of the International Space Station.
Soyuz Aircraft of Russia is the sole means of transport to the ISS for the world’s astronauts and 70.7 million US dollar per seat is paid to Russia by the US.
