The Novel of Charlie Chaplin Footlights will be published for the first time in English by the Cineteca di Bologna, an Italian film restoration institute. The announcement was made on 5 February 2014.
The film institute will be publishing the work of Charlie Chaplin in partnership with Chaplin's biographer David Robinson.
The Footlights is the only work of fiction ever written by Charlie Chaplin. It is a dark and nostalgic novel which was unveiled for the first time in 1948 in London. Later it was transformed into his film Limelight in which a washed-out clown saves a dancer from suicide.
