NRDC and Rainbow Agrilife India signed agreement for commercializing NEMHARI

NEMHARI - Plant based Formulation for Management of Mulberry Root Knot Disease

NEMHARI-A, a plant based Formulation for Management of Mulberry Root Knot Disease, was in news on 12 April 2016.

It came in news after National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) entered into a license agreement with M/s Rainbow Agrilife India Private Limited, for commercialization of the plant.

National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), under Ministry of Science & Technology, has been appointed as the nodal agency for commercialising the technical knowhow in India and abroad.

NEMHARI is a plant that was developed at Central Sericulture Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI), Central Silk Board (CSB), Mysuru.

The formulation is safe to the native soil micro flora and fauna but effective against the nematodes causing the root knot disease in mulberry. Tests conducted in the field revealed reduction of disease severity by about 84% and prevented loss of leaf yield by 24%.

The initiative of NRDC aids the “Make in India” Mission of the Government of India.
