One Lakh People applied to go to Mars not to return under Mars One Project
Mars one announced that more than one lakh people have applied for a one-way trip the Mars. The Mars One Project is scheduled to be started in 2022.
Mars one in the first week of August 2013 announced that more than one lakh people have applied for a one-way trip the Mars (the red planet). The applications has been filed by people as part of the multi-million dollar project that aims at creation of colonies on Mars. The Mars One Project is scheduled to be started in 2022.

About Application Process
A person who is 18 years in age or more can apply for the tour to the Red Planet. The fees for the travel depends upon the nationality of the applicants. The price for applicants from different nationality is being decided on the basis of the gross domestic product per capita of each nation. For US citizens its 38 US dollars.
About the Mission
Mars One is a not-for-profit foundation that will establish a permanent human settlement on Mars in 2023. Human settlement on Mars is possible today with existing technologies. Mars One mission plan integrates components that are well tested and readily available from industry leaders worldwide. The first footprint on Mars and lives of the crew thereon will captivate and inspire generations; it is this public interest that will help finance his human mission to Mars. The mission design takes into account the expansion of the human colony where a new crew arrive every two years.
Expenses will be Beared By
The Mars One mission will cost about 6 billion US dollars. As per the company the cost of travel has been kept low because they want the funds to be collected by the sponsors and media that will take away its broadcasting rights and movies that will document almost everything from the astronauts. their training on earth and about the deployment and colonisation of Mars.
As far as the first crew is concerned, the mission will cost USD 6 billion, Lansdorp said.
Mars one Project is set to select a group of 40 astronauts from different continents by the end of 2013. Four astronauts from the group that will comprise of two men and two women will leave for mars in September 2022. They will land on Mars in April 2023. In 2025, one more group will be sent, but as per the plan none of the people sent to Mars will return back.
Before sending the astronauts to Mars, they will have to undergo an eight year training in which they will be taught how to repair habitat structures, grow vegetables in confined spaces and address "both routine and serious medical issues such as dental upkeep, muscle tears and bone fractures.
With every lander of the mission, 5511 pounds of useful loads will be sent on mars.
