Former Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf was indicted by an anti-terrorism court on 20 August 2013 in the 2007 assassination of ex-premier Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and facilitation of murder.
If convicted, Musharraf can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment. Bhutto was killed in suicide attack in 2007 in Rawalpindi when Musharraf was president of the country.
In fact, Pervez Musharradf is the first ex army general to be so indicted. He returned to Pakistan in March for the general elections, ending a four year exile.
