P Pradeep Kumar on 29 December 2013 was appointed as the Managing Director (Corporate Banking) of State Bank of India (SBI), the biggest lender of the country. As one of the four managing Directors, he will look after the corporate banking portfolio of the bank.
As per a Government of India’s notification P Pradeep Kumar will be the Managing Director and Group Executive (Corporate Banking) of SBI with effect from 27 December 2013. The position will be occupied by him till the end of October 2015.
Pradeep Kumar is a post graduate in Statistics and he joined SBI in 1976 as a probationary officer. He has held several key assignments, which includes bank’s US operations. He has served State Bank of Travancore as its managing Director. At the time of his appointment at this position, he served as the deputy managing director and group executive of the corporate banking group that looks after the corporate accounts and project finance of the bank.
The other three managing directors are K Krishna Kumar holds the national banking, Hemant Contractor holds the global banking and A Vishwanathan holds subsidiaries and associates. The deputy Managing Director, RK Saraf will continue to hold the charge of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The position of MD and CFO was vacant since Arundhati Bhattarcharya was elevated as the Chairperson of SBI in October 2013.
The top management of State Bank of India includes a Chairman, four managing directors, more than twelve deputy managing directors and about 35 chief general managers.
