Professor Rakesh Khurana of Indian origin appointed as Dean of Harvard College
Professor Rakesh Khurana has been appointed as the Dean of Harvard College. He will assume the charge of the dean from 1 July 2014.
Indian American Professor Rakesh Khurana on 23 January 2014 was appointed as the Dean of Harvard College. With this appointment, Khurana has joined the long list of Indian-origin academicians, who has assumed the leadership roles at the renowned global universities. With this appointment will succeed Evelynn Hammonds, the professor of History of Science and of African and African American Studies at Harvard.
He will assume the charge of the dean from 1 July 2014. Harvard College is the school within the Harvard University that grants undergraduate degrees.
About Rakesh Khurana of 46 years
• At present he is a professor of Leadership Development at Harvard Business School (HBS) and he is also a professor of Sociology in the faculty of Arts and Sciences
• He is a co-master of Cabot House at Harvard
• In 1998, he received his PhD through a joint programme between HBS and Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
