The Union Urban Development Ministry on 17 October 2014 appointed PSN Rao as the new Chairman of the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC). Rao succeeds eminent architect Raj Rewal, who was appointed as Chairman of the commission in July 2011 for three years.
At the time of appointment as DUAC chairman, Rao was heading the Department of Housing, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. He studied urban management in Canada.
Apart from this, the ministry also named four new members of the commission, namely Sonali Bhagwati (an architect), Sonali Rastogi (an architect), Samir Mathur (a landscale architect) and Durga Shankar Mishra (Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development). The tenure of this new panel will be of three-year.

Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) was constituted under the provisions of the Delhi Urban Art Commission Act 1973. DUAC was set up in May 1974 and is mandated with preserving, developing and maintaining the aesthetic quality of urban and environmental design in Delhi.
