R K Srivastava took over as Chairman of AAI

R K Srivastava on 2 January 2015 took over as the new chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI). He is appointed for the period of five years.

Union Government has confirmed his appointment on 19 December 2014. Srivastava is a 1984-batch Jharkhand-cadre IAS officer.

He succeeded Sudheer Raheja. Raheja is a Board member (Planning). He was in charge of the post since August 2014.

The post of chairman was lying vacant when the then chairman V P Aggarwal. The additional charge was given to Alok Sinha. Alok Sinha was working as joint secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry.

About AAI

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India.

AAI was founded in 1994. It provides Air traffic management (ATM) services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas.

It also manages a total of 125 Airports, including 11 International Airports, 8 Customs Airports, 81 Domestic Airports and 25 Civil enclaves at Military Airfields.
