Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil elected as Maharashtra CLP leader

Former state minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil was on 10 November 2014 elected as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP ) leader in Maharashtra.

Patil was nominated as the CLP leader by Congress Party chief Sonia Gandhi.

  • Patil hails from Ahmednagar district and has been a legislator for long time.
  • He is the son of Balasaheb Vikhe Patil who had been a minister in the Vajpayee government and had earlier been a Congress MP for several terms.
  • He was Agriculture Minister in the Prithviraj Chavan Ministry and was also a minister during the Shiv Sena-BJP government.
  • Vikhe Patil was elected to the Shirdi Vidhan Sabha constituency in 2009.
