RBI to issue Rs 50 banknotes

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 18 August 2017 introduced Rs 50 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Urjit R. Patel, Governor of Reserve Bank of India.

The bank will shortly issue these new 50 denomination banknotes which are fluorescent blue in colour. The dimension of the banknote will be 66 mm x 135 mm.

The new notes have motif of Hampi with Chariot on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The note has other designs, geometric patterns that align with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse sides.

Moreover, all the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.
