Safety Audit for Airport Metro Express Corridor by CMRS

Jan 16, 2013 14:17 IST

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on 15 January 2013 started two-day safety audit of the Airport Metro Express. The inspection involves tracks as well as other operation aspects.

This is the mandatory inspection in which CMRS will check not just the tracks but also the station area, rolling stock, fire safety mechanism, operational preparedness, entry and exit, checking facility and baggage claim handling.

This is the 22.7 km long corridor which connects Delhi’s Connaught Place with the Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. It was closed temporarily in July 2012 because of the cracks in girder. After the repair work which carried on for 6 months, this high-speed corridor is finally ready.
